Summer Sleep
Summer has finally arrived! Tomorrow is the solstice, last Friday we had our yearly “heat wave”, or heat hump day if you live in Devon and Tesco is officially out of ice lollies.
But with the warmer weather comes high night temperatures. At Cottonsafe® Natural Mattress we often receive messages from potential customers about night sweating, poor sleep and waking tired. Our latest blog explains how a Cottonsafe® mattress keeps you cool at night.
Your body’s ability to keep itself warm or cool down can make a significant difference in your sleep quality. As your body prepares itself for sleep your body temperature begins to cool down – with your body and brain cooling during non-rapid eye movement sleep and then beginning to warm again when transitioning to REM sleep. This is known as Thermoregulation and it is vital to how well you sleep at night.
Environmental heat can disturb this balance between sleep and body temperature and with disrupted sleep you’ll experience more daytime sleepiness or exhaustion, which impacts your quality of life.
According to experts, the ideal sleeping temperature is between 16 and 20 degrees Celsius but with soaring summer temperatures this isn’t always achievable.
At Cottonsafe® Natural Mattress our priority is your sleep, that’s why we’ve developed all our mattresses, futons and futomats with fillings that naturally support your body with temperature regulation all year round.
