      We’ve had an exciting start to 2022 at Cottonsafe® Natural Mattress. A few months ago Mark and Elizabeth Dowen, the founders of the company, took the decision to make the very most of their golden years and decided it was time to take the leap into retirement. Mark was keen to ensure Cottonsafe® remained a leader of the chemical-free bed mattress industry, and so approached the company’s Production Manager, Jamie, to discuss the opportunity of taking over the business.

      And the rest is history! Mark passed the baton to Jamie and his wife Rebecca in the first week of January.

      In order to reduce our carbon footprint, we now use a trusted and well respected local courier who is based two miles away.   

      This also has a number of additional benefits. Importantly it means that, unlike other national couriers, our mattresses travel directly to you, straight from our factory to your door.

      Following the announcement from government yesterday we are pleased to announce that our showroom will be reopening on Tuesday 13th April. 

      PLEASE CALL TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT - 01395 239832

       

      We are only able to book two visits per day to adhere to social distancing regulations and to ensure we have time to thoroughly clean between appointments. We are currently requesting that no more than 2 adults attend the showroom for the appointment and no children (sorry!). Gloves, protective mattress sheeting and hand sanitiser will be provided upon entry – please ensure you bring a mask with you unless you are exempt.

      A worrying but fascinating article from Chemsec this week, which focuses on the hormone disrupting chemicals, such as Flame Retardants, and their effects on human fertility. The article also points out that the lack of knowledge and regulation inevitably creates ‘a hotbed for “regrettable substitution”, making it easy for the manufacturing industry to switch from one banned chemical to an unregulated “cousin”.’. At Cottonsafe®, we wonder if this is the case for so called bio-based or ‘green’ flame retardants?
