With a 2-inch Pocket Sprung unit nestled between four layers of luxuriously soft cotton felt, this is our softest futon style mattress.
Covered in our clever Purotex chemical-free mattress cover, this totally unique futon-style mattress is completely fire retardant chemical free but naturally meets all the UK fire regulations. OEKO-TEX and Allergy UK accredited chemical free Purotex fabric.
The spring unit helps to recirculate the air through the fillings allowing them to rebound time and time again, offering longevity and durability.
The white cotton-rich felt filling is a mixture of cotton and pure polyester. This keeps the cotton fibre from tangling and knotting and it increases loft thickness, allowing more air to pass through the fibres, reducing dust and helping with body moisture evaporation.
The Pocket Springs gives this Futomat a softer feel than the traditional futon and can be described as a medium support futon bed mattress.
Handmade to order in our Devon workshop by a team of local master craftsman our Pocket Sprung Futomat is designed for solid or sprung slatted bed bases alike.
100% chemical free, you won’t find any fire retardants, foams, bleaches, glues, or spray adhesives in any of our Futomats.

Materials
Polyester
An exceptionally breathable fibre, polyester evaporates moisture quickly, it’s non-allergenic which makes it the perfect sleeping solution for those suffering with multiple chemical sensitives and other allergies. Polyester sometimes has a bad press because it is a man-made fibre – but polyester is incredibly strong and gives great longevity! Furthermore it has a carbon footprint of about 3.8 Kg CO2e/Kg. This is about 40% less than that of cotton. So it has a lower environmental impact and is great for the circular economy. Interestingly polyester can also be used in organic mattresses under the GOTS regulations due to its very low off-gassing properties.
Cotton
Soft and breathable, cotton is the world’s most widely used fibre. Naturally hypoallergenic and temperature regulating cotton offers superior comfort and hugs the body in the same way memory foam does, but without the nasty chemicals.

The Vegan Pocket Sprung Futomat is a double-sided futon style mattress, it requires regular flipping and rotating.
It is not uncommon for dipping to appear in your Futomat where the natural fibres have been compressed. We recommend you flip and rotate weekly for the first 4 – 6 months to allow the fillings to settle evenly across the top surface.
