Our Organic wool Appledore bed mattress is the original Cottonsafe® mattress, cementing its place as part of the family, it remains one of our most popular mattresses.
With the sprung comfort of 1200 individual pocket springs, nestled between fabulously soft Organic British wool and topped with soft cotton layers that cradle your body as you sleep. Finished in our signature organic cotton and wool Cottonsafe® cover, it is 100% chemical and fire retardant free.
Hand-crafted in our Devon based workshop on the outskirts of Woodbury – The Appledore mattress has the same fillings on both sides meaning it is a fully turnable mattress. The Appledore bed mattress is quality assured by our craftspeople and comes with a 10 year warranty.
The Appledore is a great mattress for adults but is also a popular choice with parents for children making the step up to adult mattresses, in fact the Children’s Sleep Charity recommends the Appledore because it offers the perfect level of support for growing bodies as well as tired ones!
Like all of our mattresses the Appledore is completely free from chemicals including Fire retardants and spray adhesives. Our products pass the strict UK fire regulations using our patented Cottonsafe® fabric.

Materials
Wool
Our organic wool is sourced locally from British farms, it provides outstanding temperature control and is naturally hypoallergenic which makes it the obvious choice for a natural sleep environment.
Cotton
Soft and breathable, cotton is the world’s most widely used fibre. Naturally hypoallergenic and temperature regulating the cotton used in our clever Cottonsafe® cover is organic and the cotton fibre within the mattress fillings is pesticide free, making it safe and sustainable.
Pocket Springs
Individually nested pocket springs offer a more traditional sleep comfort.

We’ve selected fibres which promote only the most comfortable nights sleep, all our fibres are known for their clever body temperature regulating properties and will support your body to naturally keep cool in the warmer months and stay warm when it gets colder.
Cotton and wool are both known for naturally absorbing and dispersing moisture away, creating a clean dry, environment that’s resistant to dust mites and bacteria growth.
Sustainable

Product Care
The Appledore mattresses is a double-sided mattress, it requires regular flipping and rotating.
It is not uncommon for a small amount of dipping to appear in your mattress or topper where the natural fibres have been compressed . We recommend you flip and rotate your new Appledore mattress weekly for the first 4 – 6 months to allow the fillings to settle evenly across the top surface.
