Our Natural Fibre mattresses achieve their comfort and support through the thoughtful layering of carefully selected natural materials. Coconut fibres—known as coir—provide a stable, supportive foundation, while natural latex, adds gentle resilience and bounce. These layers are complemented by British organic wool, chosen for its breathability and natural temperature-regulating properties.
The Dartington is our medium tension mattress in the new Natural Fibre range, favoured by those who prefer a firmer, denser level of comfort, whilst still enjoying a softer comfort layer. Made entirely from natural fillings, it is completely metal-free, springless, and chemical-free—designed for a healthier, more considered night’s sleep.
Handcrafted with layers of natural latex and organic British wool, the Dartington is built around a considerable core of coir. The Dartington natural mattress has a flat, stable sleeping surface and delivers medium firm level of support, making it ideal for those who value structure and resilience in a mattress. A firm fan favourite, you could say.
Organic British wool brings a host of natural benefits. It helps regulate body temperature by drawing moisture away in warmer months and insulating when the temperature drops. Wool naturally bounces back for lasting comfort, is non-allergenic, and inherently fire-retardant. A gentle, natural aroma from the wool’s lanolin may be present at first and will fade with time.
Like all our mattresses, the Dartington is completely free from chemical treatments, fire retardants, and spray adhesives. Finished with our patented Cottonsafe® fabric, it exceeds all UK fire safety regulations for both domestic and contract use—naturally.

Materials
Latex
Our natural latex is harvested from the sap of rubber trees, a renewable resource that offers long-lasting resilience and comfort.
Latex is naturally breathable, helping regulate temperature throughout the night, and its open-cell structure wicks away moisture for a cool, dry sleep. Naturally hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites and mould, it’s ideal for those with allergies or sensitive skin.

Cotton
Soft and breathable, cotton is the world’s most widely used natural fibre. Naturally hypoallergenic and temperature-regulating, the organic cotton in our patented Cottonsafe® cover provides comfort, durability, and peace of mind—all while meeting the highest safety standards.
Coir
Coir is the durable fibre extracted from coconut husks, a 100% natural and renewable material. Its firm, resilient structure provides excellent support while forming a stable, flat sleeping surface that complements other natural fillings like wool and latex.

Product Care
Product Care
The Totnes mattresses is a double-sided mattress, it requires regular flipping and rotating.
It is not uncommon for a small amount of dipping to appear in your mattress or topper where the natural fibres have been compressed . We recommend you flip and rotate your new mattress weekly for the first 4 – 6 months to allow the fillings to settle evenly across the top surface.
