5 Stars

“Amazingly comfortable mattress and no fire retardant smells or side-effects. 5/5 stars.”

The Organic Hatherleigh bed mattress is our first to be made with entirely organic fillings. It's wool, wool, wool and yes, you guessed it wool! In fact there is over 19kg of organic British wool in a king size Hatherleigh.

Our organic wool is sourced from UK farms and certified organic GOTS and Soil Association accredited.

The Hatherleigh Organic, like its sister Widecombe Mattress, has a slightly firmer top surface than The Appledore.

The mattress is completely turnable and so the fillings are equal on both sides of the spring system, accommodating the enormous amount of wool.

Wool has many positive natural properties, proven to improve sleep quality offering a truly restorative nights sleep, this wonder fibre works hard to regulate your temperature as you sleep, it draws moisture away helping to keep you cool during those hot summer nights and it acts as a breathable insulator when the weather turns chilly. If that wasn’t enough it bounces back, is naturally fire-retardant as well as being non-allergenic.

The lanolin in the organic wool brings an initial aroma to the mattress which will fade and disappear.

Like all of our mattresses the Hatherleigh organic mattress is completely free from chemicals including Fire retardants and spray adhesives. Our products pass the strict UK fire regulations using our patented Cottonsafe® fabric.

If you like a firmer mattress with a flat top surface, then the Hatherleigh organic bed mattress is the one for you.

Product CareProduct Care

The Organic Hatherleigh mattress is a double-sided mattress, it requires regular flipping and rotating.

It is not uncommon for a small amount of dipping to appear in your mattress or topper where the natural fibres have been compressed . We recommend you flip and rotate your new Hatherleigh mattress weekly for the first 4 – 6 months to allow the fillings to settle evenly across the top surface.

For more information on caring for your Cottonsafe® mattress take a look at our care guide.
