“We absolutely love our new mattress, having spent so long researching and waiting to get a truly natural mattress we were very excited and it has no disappointed. It is comfy whilst being firm and we sleep so well and wake up without all our normal aches and pains”
The Organic Wool Widecombe bed mattress was our first to be made with entirely natural fillings. It’s wool, wool, wool and yes, you guessed it wool! In fact there is over 19kg of British wool in a king size Widecombe.
The Widecombe has a slightly firmer top surface than The Appledore.
The mattress is completely turnable and so the fillings are equal on both sides of the spring system, accommodating the enormous amount of organic wool.
We use the best quality wool that is sourced that is ethically produced by flocks of happy, healthy sheep from some of the UKs best farms, upholding the 5 freedoms outlined in the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
Organic wool has many positive natural properties, proven to improve sleep quality offering a truly restorative nights sleep, this wonder fibre works hard to regulate your temperature as you sleep, it draws moisture away helping to keep you cool during those hot summer nights and it acts as a breathable insulator when the weather turns chilly. If that wasn’t enough it bounces back, is naturally fire-retardant as well as being non-allergenic.
Like all of our mattresses the Widecombe bed mattress is completely free from chemicals including Fire retardants and spray adhesives. Our products pass the strict UK fire regulations using our patented Cottonsafe® fabric.
If you like a firmer mattress, then the Widecombe bed mattress is the one for you.

Product Care
The Widecombe mattresses is a double-sided mattress, it requires regular flipping and rotating.
It is not uncommon for a small amount of dipping to appear in your mattress or topper where the natural fibres have been compressed . We recommend you flip and rotate your new Widecombe mattress weekly for the first 4 – 6 months to allow the fillings to settle evenly across the top surface.
