Vegan Society Accreditation Update

Vegan Bedroom products such as Vegan Mattresses have been increasingly in popularity and are becoming more readily available on the market. Whilst we are delighted that the options for Vegans is increasing, it is particularly important to be asking the right questions regarding chemical use in these products before purchasing.

The Vegan Society Accreditation Registration does a fantastic job of analysing the manufacturing process to confirm no animal products are used, but they do not query the use of chemicals or fire retardants.

Therefore, when purchasing do not forget to ask the retailer/manufacturer:

• Does this product have any chemical treatments – bleaching, dying, adhesives etc?
• Does this product have fire retardant chemical application?
• HOW does this product meet UK fire safety regulations?

Remember, 100% Natural/Organic Latex WILL NOT meet UK fire regulations without chemical treatment unless it has been blended with graphite/carbon (which colours it grey).
